Introducing Kot, an unusual-talent hailing from Lithuania, Vilnius. Based somewhere in Europe, Kot draws, illustrates and produces everything that pops into her mind. With an online portfolio of work Kot strikes us as an emerging talent – producing provocative and inspiring art with a cheeky twist.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself. Who is Kot Bonkers and what does she do?
I’m Kotryna, better known as Kot and I am a regular girl who likes to draw and doodle.
Are there any key themes or ideas you aim to express through your art?
I am not trying to purposely express some type of ”key themes” or ideas, my aim is to actually express whatever I feel in the present moment. I am not static, and therefore my ideas aren’t static or fixed. I am a moving, growing, learning and being naturally influenced by my surroundings and circumstances, which are reflected in my work.
Name three things that inspire you to get creative and how?
The most uninspiring things can be inspiring in a way. Like, sitting in the office, feeling how slowly time is passing by, when you’re spending it doing something you do not enjoy. Even that negative emotion, or that feeling of being trapped in a place you do not like can push you to express creativity somehow. Inspiration to me simply means feeling the need to voice yourself.
What is it about art that motivated you to get involved with it?
Nothing ”about art” motivated me to get involved in it, since I do not see ”art” as some type of box you can just step into, once you’ve decided that it’s somehow convenient to do so. It was a natural process, I had this energy bubbling up inside of me, with no positive ways or tools to let it all out. So I guess I found a way to talk about how I really feel through drawing.
Following on from your post on ‘true creativity’. Can you explain what you meant and what it truly means to be creative?
Being truly creative is just letting go and voicing yourself fully. Also being honest at all times. Creativity is a very wide term and creativity is in everything. From music to cooking and making love. It’s a force and a feeling.
What important message would you like to give to young creatives all over the world?
Most important message I’d like to give is to be real and to get to know yourselves, and to not be afraid. ”
